Russell Henley moves to 12th on teh Web.com money list |
Former Bulldog, Russell Henley, won a three way playoff at The Chiquita Classic on the Web.com Tour Sunday. The victory was the second of his career on the tour, but his first as a professional. Henley previously won the 2011 Stadion Classic at UGA while he was still a student athlete at UGA, but this time around he gets to cash the $99,000 winners check. Bigger than the winners check, is his move from 35 up to 12th on the Web.com money list as Henley becomes the top money winner on the season thus far among the Bulldogs on the Web.com Tour.
Henley lead or shared the lead after each round of the tournament and he had a one shot lead with just the 72nd hole to play. Henley's tee shot found the fairway bunker on the 72nd hole. From the bunker he hit his approach shot to the green in the water surrounding the 18th green. Henley then hit a wedge to 20 feet and rolled in his putt for bogey (his first bogey in 42 holes) to force a three way playoff with Patrick Cantlay and Morgan Hoffman.
In the playoff, Henley calmly made a par as the other two players made bogey. Henley joins his former teammate, Hudson Swafford, as Bulldogs who have won on the Web.com Tour this season. Currently there are three Bulldogs in the top 25 of the money list. Henley sits at 12th, Swafford holds the 20th spot, while Paul Claxton is at 22nd.
Scott Parel is just outside the top 25 at 32nd, Justin Bolli is at 36th, and Richard Scott is 45th.
The Web.com Tour moves to Maryland this week for the Neediest Kids Championship at the TPC Potomac.
