Bulldogs Set To Play In Furman Intercollegiate

The 21st-ranked Georgia men's golf team will continue the spring portion of its schedule this weekend in the 43rd annual Furman Intercollegiate.

The tournament will take place Friday through Sunday at the Furman University Golf Club, which is a par-72, 6,994-yard course.

Joining the Bulldogs and the host Paladins will be Charleston Southern, No. 13 Clemson, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, Elon, Francis Marion, Gardner-Webb, Georgia State, Marshall, Michigan, Presbyterian, Purdue, Samford, Temple, Troy, Virginia Tech, Western Carolina, Winthrop and Wofford.

The Bulldogs will use a lineup of junior T.J. Mitchell, sophomores Brian Carter, Joey Garber and Keith Mitchell, and freshman Nicholas Reach. Freshman Sepp Straka will play as an individual, meaning his scores will not count toward the team total.

"As hard as it is to believe, we're getting down to it with this season," Georgia coach Chris Haack said. "After Furman, we've got Linger Longer (March 24-25) and then the SECs (April 20-22 on St. Simons Island). We need to keep improving and make sure we're hitting our stride when we get to the championship part of the schedule. That's why Furman is a big tournament for us. We need to keep playing well, building momentum and gaining more confidence."

The first round will tee off at 8 a.m. on Friday. Live scoring can be found at golfstat.com.
