Bulldogs Open 1-1 in Stanford Classic


The Georgia men's golf team will be squaring off with Southern Cal today in the consolation bracket of the Stanford Classic at Cypress Point Club.

The fifth-seeded Bulldogs opened the event on Monday by dropping a 8.5-3.5 decision to fourth-seeded UCLA in a four-ball best ball format. Sam Straka-Joey Garber earned two points to pace the Bulldogs. Georgia then knocked off No. 8 seed Michigan 8-4 in foursomes. T.J. Mitchell-Sepp Straka earned four points for the Bulldogs, while Straka-Garber got three.

Today the Bulldogs will also play the seventh-seeded Cardinal in singles. Mitchell and Sepp Straka will play with Sam Smith and Stewart Hagestad at 11:30 a.m., followed by McCoy and Cromie with Yi Kuen Chang at 11:40, and Sam Straka and Garber with Jeffrey Kang and Anthony Paolucci at 11:50.
