Bulldogs Continue Fall Schedule In Tennessee
The Georgia men’s golf team will continue
the fall portion of its schedule next week in the Franklin American Mortgage
Intercollegiate at The Grove in Tennessee.
Fresh off a runner-up finish in The Carmel Cup in
California, the No. 9 Bulldogs will play Sunday through Tuesday at The Grove
Club (par 72, 7,368-yard) in College Grove, Tenn.
The Bulldogs will use a lineup of seniors Jaime Lopez
Rivarola and Greyson Sigg, sophomores David Mackey and Tye Waller, and freshman
Spencer Ralston. Junior Zach Healy will participate as an individual. Sigg was
second, Waller 10th, Ralston 11th and Healy 18th in the season-opening tournament.
Joining the Bulldogs and host Middle Tennessee State will be
Cincinnati, Charleston, Elon, Kennesaw State, Louisiana, Louisville, McNeese
State, Memphis, Mississippi, North Carolina State, Troy and Wisconsin.
The Franklin American Mortgage Intercollegiate at The Grove
is entering its third year of existence. This will be Georgia’s first
appearance in the event.
“We’ve heard great things about this tournament and we’re
excited to be part of it this year,” Georgia head coach Chris Haack said. “The
course and the field will put us to the test. That’s what the fall is about. We
had a solid start in The Carmel Cup and we need to keep it rolling at The
Grove.”
• Keith Mitchell is playing this week in the Web.com Tour's Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft Nabisco. This is the second tournament in the Web.com Tour Finals, a series of four events that will conclude at the Web.com Tour Championship in Atlantic Beach, Fla., Oct. 6-9. Twenty-five PGA TOUR cards were awarded three weeks ago following the WinCo Foods Portland Open. An additional 25 cards are up for grabs during the four Finals events, as well as positioning for all 50 cards.

Bulldogs, Sigg Take Second In The Carmel Cup
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. --- The Georgia men’s golf team opened the fall portion of its 2016-17 schedule by placing second in The Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach Golf Links on Sunday.
The Bulldogs --- who are rated No. 6 by Golfstat and No. 9 by Golfweek --- shot a final-round 4-under 356 to wind up at 30-under 1,050. Oklahoma State, on the strength of a 16-under 344 Sunday, won at 38-under 1,042. The tournament format consisted of six players competing with five counting (as opposed to the typical five players with four counters).
Senior Greyson Sigg paced the Bulldogs as he came in second at 12-under 204, including a third-round 3-under 69. Sigg finished two shots in back of Texas Tech’s Fredrick Nilehn.
Sophomore Tye Waller carded a 1-under 71 in the final round to place a career-best eighth at 7-under 209. Freshman Spencer Ralston notched a 2-under 70 to come in 11th at 6-under 210. Junior Zach Healy took 18th at 4-under 212 following his even-par 72. Senior Jaime Lopez Rivarola (3-over 75) and freshman Will Chandler (2-over 74) rounded out the scoring at 2-over 216 and 4-over 218, respectively.
The Bulldogs will return to action Sept. 18-20 in the Franklin American Mortgage Intercollegiate at The Grove in Nashville, Tenn.
• Six Bulldogs will compete this week in the BMW Championship as they are still alive in the playoffs leading to the Tour Championship in Atlanta later this month. No. 17 Kevin Kisner, No. 27 Bubba Watson. No. 44 Harris English, No. 57 Brian Harman, No. 61 Hudson Swafford and No. 66 Chris Kirk rank among the top 70 in the FedExCup Standings following last week's Deutsche Bank Championship. The top 30 players will tee it up at the Tour Championship. The top five at the season finale control their own destiny. They can clinch the FedExCup with a victory at East Lake Golf Club.
• Sepp Straka (fresh off a top-10 finish last week) and Nicholas Reach will be playing this week in the Mackenzie Tour's Niagara Championship.
